We're Sonja and Phil, and, along with our young family, we've made Scotland our home.
Since he was a child, Phil has been coming to Scotland, and Sonja first moved here in 2012. Phil is from England and has a background in hospitality and digital marketing. Sonja is a trained lawyer originating from New Zealand who fell into travel blogging and content creation. Both have a real passion for all things food!
Since we met, we've always loved to eat out at different places across Scotland on our travels, but we realised when our first little boy was born here in 2018 that we didn't know a whole lot about making traditional Scottish food.
And so the idea for Scottish Scran was born...
On our main Scottish Scran site, we explore traditional Scottish recipes and sometimes give them a modern twist too. We also interview Scottish food producers and suppliers, and we're excited to be expanding even further. We'll be sharing more about our foodie discoveries as we explore every corner of this beautiful country.
So why the Scottish Scran Shop?
We've spent many a road trip enjoying everything Scotland's larder has to offer, discovering new recipes and learning of their origins. We learnt so much on our travels through the realm of Scottish food that we decided to create a great community of people to share it all with.
This led to some fun discussions and ideas about Scottish food-related products, and so we set about making those ideas a reality and created the Scottish Scran Shop.
Our first design is a map of the best-known foods from Scotland, and we have many more ideas to bring to life coming soon!
